The author wrote the Billabong series over the years 1910 to 1942 and they reveal a very different Australia than that of today. It’s best to read the books in chronological order just to get the characters straight (although we didn’t because it took us a decade to gather all the titles in the series) but the books do stand alone. ![]() ![]() There are fifteen books altogether and they follow Norah Linton from when she was a twelve year old growing up at Billabong, her father’s property in rural Victoria, through to her adult years. A Little Bush Maid was published in 1910 and is the first book in the Billabong series by Mary Grant Bruce. ![]()
